European Judo prospects to compete in EUC Coimbra 2017

The competition is about to start in Coimbra. Tomorrow is the first day of the European Universities Championship Judo 2017 where 195 athletes will compete during three days in Hall 3 of of Coimbra’s University Sport Complex, in the city centre.

 

Two years after the EUC 2015 Judo, held in Reims, in France, Coimbra is the host city of this event, as well as the EUC 2017 in Taekwondo and Karate. Both will take place at the same time of the EUC 2017 Judo.

 

There are several prospects who have important international results in their careers. Damla Çaliskan, in the -52kg category, from Uludag University, Turkey, is one of these athletes. 83rd in the Judo World Ranking, Çaliskan has already won 4 medals in Continental Cups and Championships.

 

On the -66kg category, Bence Boros, from University of Pecs, Hungary, is other of the best prospects in EUC Judo 2017. The hungarian is the 18th in Judo Junior World Ranking.

 

On the -70kg category, two athletes deserve the highlight. Maya Thoyer, from the Institute of Higher Education of Osteopathy Osteobio, France, 116th in Judo World Ranking with five medals in Open tournaments and Continental Cups, two of them gold medals. Also in this category, eyes on Urszula Hofma from Wrocklaw University of Science and Technology, Poland, the 127th of Judo World Ranking.

 

Nikola Gusic, from University Donja Gorica, Montenegro, is the 85th on the Judo World Ranking in the -73kg category as Anna Zaleçzna, from Nicolaus Copernicus University in Torun, Poland, 89th in Judo World Ranking, and who has won already five medals in Continental Cups and Championships.

 

These are some of the most successful athletes among the 195 to compete in EUC Judo Coimbra 2017, from 103 universities representing 18 countries.
